Love First: A New Approach to Intervention. Provides guidance for anyone thinking about helping a loved one suffering from alcoholism or drug addiction. The site also includes an online bookstore and intervention videos.

National Clearinghouse for Alcohol and Drug Information. Extensive information on alcoholism, including pamphlets and brochures (English and Spanish), quick facts, research updates, alcohol and health reports, and treatment locator.

Buddy T's Guide to Elders and Alcoholism. Offers a variety of articles on alcoholism and seniors. Also one of the best web sites for general information on alcoholism and other drug dependencies.

NIDA: National Institute for Drug Abuse. Provides information on drugs and addiction, prevention, and treatment; how drugs affect the brain and behavior; and other scientific knowledge.

Intervention Workshop: Intervention videos will teach you how to do a good family intervention. Paid membership required, more than four hours of instruction and many resources.

Sober Recovery: An online library of resources for treatment and recovery, including 12 Step meetings. Also offers an online recovery chat room.

American Association of Retired Persons (AARP). A wealth of information for older adults. Topics range across all areas of life, including understanding managed care, grief, family issues, grandchildren, and much more (Spanish version available).

Administration on Aging. An advocacy agency for older adults and their concerns. Educates seniors and their caregivers about services available to them.

Debra Jay – No More Letting Go. Debra's new book, published by Bantam. The spirituality of taking action against alcoholism and drug addiction.

National Institute on Aging. A federal agency on aging research. Offers, online, "The Resource Directory for Older People."

Medicare: The Official Government Site. Offers online searches for health plans, nursing homes, medigap policies, participating physicians and more (Spanish and Chinese versions available).

Older Women's League (OWL). A national grassroots organization focusing on issues unique to women as they age.

Gerontological Society of America. Interest group on "Aging, Alcohol, and Addictions" of the Gerontological Society of America (GSA).

Alcohol Medical Scholars Program: Promoting education in medical schools regarding alcoholism and related issues.
