Debra Jay

Debra Jay is the co-author of Aging and Addiction: Helping Older Adults Overcome Alcohol or Medication Dependence. She is also co-author of the best-selling Love First: A New Approach to Intervention for Alcoholism and Drug Addiction.

She is a nationally known speaker and has appeared regularly appeared on the Oprah Winfrey Show.

 She is in private practice, providing intervention training and consultation services to families throughout the United States and Canada. She previously worked as an addiction specialist for the Hazelden Foundation. She has recently co-produced a series of intervention videos to teach families how to help a loved one.

Her clinical experience included inpatient treatment for men and women, coordinator of the older adult track, facilitator of the three-day family program, designer of the outpatient family program as well as working in outpatient, extended care and aftercare programs. She has written a column in the Grosse Pointe News since 1996.
